This year, in place of finishers' mementoes, Chiltern Harriers will be making a donation to Blood Cancer UK in memory of one of our own.
Fabian Downs, a member of the Club since the age of 15, sadly lost his battle with blood cancer in November 2023 at 37 years of age. While he spent a number of years living in Switzerland and New Zealand, Fabian remained a Harrier throughout. We were delighted to see him at the Pednor 5 in 2023, when - although unwell - he was determined to turn out and still clocked a very respectable time.
Fabian represented Oxford University as Captain of their cross-country team, won more than 10 national medals and represented Switzerland at several world championships. In 2022 he published a book 'Globetrotting', describing how he combined his passion for racing and travel in visiting more than 50 countries.
