Chiltern Harriers
held their annual ‘Pednor 5’ events on the May Bank Holiday, attracting
nearly 200 participants across all events.
The Pednor 5 Road Race was won by Tom Beedell (383) in 27:14, ahead of
Vale of Aylesbury’s Charlie May (27:39) and fellow Chiltern Harrier
Eddie O’Gorman (28:08). Chiltern Harriers won the team prize with Simon
Beedell in 6th (29:29) and Adrian Berry in 8th (29:58) completing the
team.
Samantha Amend (108) of Belgrave Harriers was the first lady across the
line in 29:41, improving on her winning time from last year of 30:27.
Chiltern Harriers’ Ali Young (32:42) and Kirstie Elliot (34:28) were
2nd & 3rd, and won the Ladies Team prize with Judith Orr in 6th
(36:47), completing a successful night for Harriers.
Peter Allen of Burnham Joggers won the Junior Men prize, with an
impressive time of 34:22.
The afternoon’s Pednor 5 Race Walk was dominated by a trio from Ilford
AC: Francisco Reis completed the course in 41:52, followed by Steven
Uttley & Peter Ryan who both finished in 44:19. Helen Middleton
of Enfield & Haringey AC was first lady in 47:38.
The Pednor 5 Challenge (combined times for walk & run) was won
this year by Steven Uttley (82:54), who ran the course in a very
respectable 38:35 after his 2nd place in the Race Walk. Steve Allen
(86:37) was second and first lady was Fiona Bishop of Woking AC with a
combined time of 102:09.
