As the track season approaches its busiest period, on Wednesday the
Chiltern Harriers middle distance runners put on a superb display of
800m and 1500m running, with PBs galore.
In the 800m races
U13 Sandie Pohlman made her debut at the event in Race 1 with a mature
race and a time of 2.47.52. In Race 3 U17 Hannah Wardley ran a solidly
to record 2.39.00.
Race 4 saw a great battle between U17
Emma Barraclough, U15 Amy Fawcett and U13 Sophie Morton, all gaining
big PBs. Emma won with 2.32.90, Amy second in 2.32.94 and Sophie third
in 2.35.01.
U15 Hannah Thear ran 2.32.20 (season’s best) and
U13 Orla Fawcett 2.34.38 (PB) in Race 5. There was a gap in Chiltern
presence until Race 9 when U15 Will Perkin ran a PB of 2.17.74, Race 10
with U15 Sam Henning running a PB of 2.13.89 and Race 11 with U17 Alex
Johnson clocking 2.11.22 and U15 Bill Hughes running a PB of 2.23.90.
George
Gillingwater ran positively in Race 12 with 2.03.00 and run of the
night came from U17 James McCarthy who achieved the English Schools
Championships qualifying time of 1.58 by running a stunning race of
1.57.21.
In the 1500m races U15 Jonty Wager-Leigh ran a PB
of 4.47.32 in race 3 just holding off U17 Connie Lewis with a PB of
4.48.21 and U15 Hannah Morton ran a season’s best of 4.54.91.
Race 4 saw a big PB for U17 Matt Simpson with 4.29.74 and also for U17 Jack Quoroll with 4.35.86.
Elie Bou-Gharios and Jimmy Davies ran in Race 5 running 4.31.98 and 4.33.07 respectively, both new records.
The
one sprinter in action was U13 Alex Ahern running 100m in a season’s
best 14.19 and Abi Jones recorded 3.54m for the long jump.
