Watford Young Athletes Open – Sunday 15th April
A
large group of Chiltern Harriers youngsters took part in the first of
the Years 1-7 children’s open meetings at Watford on Sunday 15th.
In
the U13s there was a PB and a win for Orla Fawcett in the 800m of
2.39.9. There were also 800m PBs for Callum Hodson, Jake Alderson,
Sophie Morton, Ethan Kidd, Scarlett Wager-Leigh, Redford Denson, Emily
Baxter and Jessica Brew.
Jake Alderson also impressed with a
win in the 70m hurdles and the long jump. Alex Ahern cruised to victory
in the 100m and there was a win for Amber Hitchcock in the girls 100m.
In
the Under 11 age group Hannah West won both 600m and long jump and
there were good performances from Holly Martin, Emily Alderson, Ellie
Perkin, Izzie Kidd and Katie Dyer and for the boys Tom Hunter and Harry
Brandon stood out.
Watford Evening Open – Wednesday 18th April
There
were many PBs and two English Schools qualifying times at Watford on
Wednesday 18th. Connie Lewis tackled the 3000m and recorded 10.15.98,
placing her second in the national rankings to date and 11 seconds
within the qualifying time. Michael Goddard ran a PB of 4.07.14 in the
1500m and dipped under the 4.08 U17 qualifying standard for English
Schools.
There were also 1500m PBs for U20s George
Gillingwater (4.11.87) and Liam MacDonald (4.38.67); U17s Eli
Bou-Gharios (4.33.12) and Chris Strong (4.25.96); and U15s Sam Henning
(4.33.92) and Tom Conway (5.03.03).
U15 Amy Fawcett took 13
seconds off her PB (5.09.10), and U13 Orla Fawcett 14 seconds
(5.10.22). Orla’s time puts her third in the National U13 girls
rankings season to date and Sophie Morton’s debut at the distance
(5.20.42) puts her 11th. U13 Abi Jones ran the 800m in a new PB of
2.43.42 and U13 Alex Ahern achieved a new record in the 200m of 28.75.
Other
At
Lee Valley on the 14th April Abi Jones threw a javelin PB of 22.17m to
place her in the national top ten and U15 Rhys Aitchison ran a PB at
Reading on April 22nd in the 100m of 12.80.
