On Saturday 5,000 fortunate runners took part in the first official
race in the Olympic Park, which finished inside the Olympic Stadium.
Nearly 43,000 people applied for this event and two Chiltern Harriers
were fortunate enough to get a place:
Tom Beedell finished
in 26:11 and was 3rd! The winner, Tommy Davies, finshed in 25:11
which is apparently 0.2 seconds faster than the Olympic Record for this
distance – set in 1908!
Sian Thomas finished in 151st place
with a time of 31:37, 6th female – first lady across the line was
Nell McAndrew in 29:21.
