The track season got underway for Chiltern Harriers young athletes on
Saturday with the Bracknell open. There were some great performances
and a huge quota of personal bests.
The sprinters were out in force, particularly the Under 15s, and there
was a bronze medal for Jamie Lloyd in the 200m with a new PB of 25.04.
Jamie also recorded a 100m PB of 12.76, finishing fifth in the final.
Rhys Aitchison also had trio of PBs – 13.04 in the 100m, 26.90 in the
200m and 22.91m in the hammer.
The U15 girls saw 100m bests for Rachel Klima (13.84) and Robyn Lisle
(13.96), both of whom reached the final. Also achieving new bests were
Eloise Lenihan (14.05) and Fran Luttrell (14.13). Robyn also recorded
PBs in the high jump (1.40m), and long jump (4.33m), Fran ran a 200m
best of 28.56, and Rachel had a long jump PB of 3.90m.
Claire Buttivant threw a shot PB of 6.97m.
Sarah Cross logged 13.42 in the U17 girls final and had an impressive
shot of 6.95m. Hannah Shepard shattered her 200m PB with 27.98 and
reached the final.
In the U13s both Alex Ahern and debutant James Smith reached the finals
of both 80m and 150m. Sandie Pohlman ran well in 80m, 150m and 600m and
there were PBs for Abi Jones in the 600m (1.57.06) and shot (6.35m).
Abi was in third place in the high jump with 1.20m and Sophie Morton
made an impressive U13 debut to be silver medallist in the 1000m with
3.26.28.
In the U11 races Cicely Fulford and Katie Dyer both gained good
experience and Katie reached both 60m and 150m finals.
