Senior Events
The Bucks Cross Country Championships were held last Saturday
in
reasonably good conditions – the temperature was good for the time of
year, although a cutting wind at the start meant waiting for the start
of races was not pleasant. Conditions underfoot were very good for
Wing, those of you who remember last year’s Chiltern League meeting at
Wing will be pleased to know there was significantly less mud!
The Senior & Veteran Women’s race was held over a 6k course and
Chiltern Harriers had five runners in a field of twenty-nine. Grace
Birch was 11th overall in 24:34 and Judith Orr was 2nd F45 in 25:25
(12th overall), just ahead of team-mate Kirstie Eliott who finished in
25:43. Kate Loach was 24th in 28:12 and Barbara Ralph was 1st F55 in
28:46. Chiltern were 4th placed Womens team, and 3rd placed Veteran
Team.
The Men’s race was held over 12k and Chiltern Harriers had three
runners in the top 6, with eight runners overall in a field of
fifty-seven. Fabian Downs continued his good form of late to come 2nd
in 41:38, followed by Tom Beedell (4th) in 42:03 and Eddie O’Gorman
