The
first primary schools meeting of the season took place at a sunny RAF
Halton on Saturday with several young Chiltern Harriers competing for
their schools.
Four of the eight races saw wins for Chiltern athletes. In the Year 6
boys race Tommy Taylor and Callum Hodson of Chalfont St Peter were fast
out of the start and Tommy pulled away in the second half of the short
race to record a victory. Callum was second and also well placed were
Ethan Kidd (Chartridge) in fourth, Ollie Powell (Little Kingshill) in
sixth and Redford Denson (The Gateway) in eighth. Phoenix and Kristian
Everiss of Great Missenden featured in the top twenty but Chalfont’s
Oliver Jackson struggled with a stitch.
Year 6 girl Lily Pearson maintained her winning run with a further
victory, with fellow Heatherton House pupil Magdalena Rospedzihowska
running well for third. Also well up in the top ten was Chesham Prep’s
Olivia Houlihan-Burne.
Amongst the Year 5s, Chartridge’s Cameron Reid ran a very well paced
race to win comfortably in the boys race. Tom Hall from Elangeni was
just outside the top ten and Chalfont’s Alex Boyd also had a good run.
Amelia Weir of Godstowe was eighth, Ellen Hodson of Chalfont twelfth,
and Ellie Perkin of Elangeni thirteenth in the girls version.
Tom Hunter confirmed his progress since arriving at the club with a win
for Chalfont St Peter in the Year 4 boys event and Robert Orr and Lewis
Crossley also ran well.
Ben Hall and Hannah Wardley did a great job of haring and tortoising.
The next match is at Chartridge School on November 19th.
