The 30th Wycombe Half Marathon was held last Sunday starting
& finishing on the Rye. The torrential rain of the previous day
held off until the majority of the 921 finishers had collected their
medal,goody bag & a very bright running top! The overcast
conditions helped keep the temperature at a comfortable level which
certainly helped with the ascent of Marlow Hill through the grounds of
Wycombe Abbey School.
Thirteen Chiltern Harriers took part, led home once again by Eddie
O’Gorman, who finished 5th in a time of 1:16:22.
Our Veteran runners had a great day, in particular Derek Brown who was
8th overall in 1:17:11, 1st V50 by some six minutes. Steve Field was
2nd V60 in a time of 1:38:27 with Doug King 3rd V60 in 1:42:15. Garry
Page ran a PB to finish 20th V50M in 1:41:12 and Kate Loach was 3rd
V40F in 1:47:28.
In the 10k race which starts at the same time, Justin Fowler came 7th
in a fast 36:56 and David Breingan was 29th in 43:29.
