Even more success at Penn 7!
Chiltern Harriers nearly achieved a clean sweep at the 28th Penn 7 race
on Sunday, winning every prize bar one. Fortunately the rain held off
long enough for most of the 268 finishers to complete the fairly tough
7 mile course i.e. there is a hill at the end of every straight!
James Repper brought the team home in 40:29. James led the race from
start to finish and was a minute & a half ahead of second
place. To put his time into context, Matt Bennett won last year in
41:58. David Breingan had a super run to finish 17th in 47:56. Mike
Worsfold was 39th in 50:26.
On her return to racing, Debbie Wenman was 1st lady (& 1st
female vet) in 49:11 (28th overall). Sarah Caulfield was 3rd lady (63rd
overall) finishing in 53:06.
On his first run at Penn, Steve Field finished 48th in 51:21, which
earnt him the distinctive title of 1st supervet! Chiltern
were also awarded the team prize for the second year running.
The Super Fun Run (3.2 miles) held in the afternoon attracted 614
entrants.
