There were more great middle distance performances by Chiltern Harriers youngsters at the latest Watford open evening.
In the 3000m, senior man Matt Bennett set a PB of 8.43.20. There was further success in the 1500m races. Under 17 men George Gillingwater and Jack Walker both had good runs in Race 7, George with a PB of 4.16.70 and Jack with 4.23.73. The Under 15s also had a good evening with Joe Aherne (pictured right) setting a new best of 4.34.77 in winning race 5.
In Race 4 Liam MacDonald ran 4.52.47, Sam Butcher ran 4.57.73 and Connie Lewis set a new best of 4.54.76. Race 3 saw a win for senior man Julius Fawcett in 4.48.27. Under 13 boy Angus Denison-Smith dipped under 5 minutes for the first time with a new best of 4.59.67 and Hannah Thear had a first 1500m of the season in 5.20.11. In Race 1 there were PBs all round for Under 13s Orla Fawcet (5.24.90) and Richard Slade (5.32.80) and Unde r15 Amy Fawcett (5.26.40).
The 800m also saw successes. In Race 4 Under 13 Will Perkin set a new PB of 2.20.17 and in Race 2 Rohan Montgomery (2.36.85), David Willcox (2.38.22) Katie Bench (2.38.98) and Claire Buttivant (2.45.10) all set season's bests. Race 1 saw a great debut from Freddie Burrell with 2.41.95.
