At a waterlogged Alton Towers, Chiltern Harriers athletes battled through the mud to record some excellent performances.
The opening races saw many twisted ankles due to the difficult boggy conditions, with the result that later races had courses changed to aid safer running.
The best individual Chiltern run came from Hannah Morton in the Under 13 girls race. Always in the top end of the field Hannah finished in 11th place from the 366 finishers. Katie Bench was 138th, Georgie Bingham 153rd and Hannah Thear 223rd to complete the team that finished 21st overall. Claire Buttivant also had a solid run to be 246th.
The Under 15 girls were an excellent 13th. Connie Lewis had to contend with an amended course and was first Chiltern girl home in 42nd. Rosalind Firth was 114th, Emma Barraclough 141st, and Hannah Wardley 159th. There were 323 finishers.
In the boys events Sam Henning was the sole Under 13 representative, injuries and half term preventing others from making the journey. He was a very good 80th from the 327 finishers.
The Under 15 boys race saw Michael Goddard 31st and Joe Aherne 215th from 326. And in the Under 17 men, George Gillingwater was 154th, Jack Walker 163rd and Liam MacDonald 224th.
In the huge senior men's race David Breingan was 972nd and Trevor Brawn 1262nd.
