A good turnout across the age groups saw Chiltern Harriers finish third on the day and confirm fourth place for the season as a whole at Wing on Saturday at the final Chiltern League match of the season. Several teams and individuals won medals.
In the Senior men's race Tom Beedell (4th), Fabian Downs (5th) and Eddie O'Gorman (8th) led the points scoring but all ten scorers finished in the top 100 - James Repper (30th), Jon Taylor (66th), Peter Wootton (71st), Steve Perkin (80th), Adam Bowller (82nd), Mark Tudor (93rd) and David Breingan (99th). The men were fourth on the day and ended up in fifth overall.
In the Under 17 race George Gillingwater and Ben Hall completed solid campaigns with George 8th and Ben 14th. Liam MacDonald was 18th. The boys ended up in a creditable fifth place in the league table.
The Under 15 boys race was won by in-form Michael Goddard who ended up as league silver medallist. James McCarthy was 13th, Joe Aherne 20th and Andrew Stenning 21st to earn third place and the team were bronze medallists for the season.
The Under 13 boys ran well with Will Perkin continuing his recent good form to win the Division 1 race. Rob Hall was third, Sam Henning 11th, Jonny Stenning 20th ,debutant Tom Conway 21st and Richard Slade 27th. This was enough to move the team up to the silver medal for the season. Injured Bill Hughes had already sealed the Division 1 title gold medal. Sam Henning was tenth overall.
Completing a trio of individual wins at Wing was Angus Denison-Smith in the Under 11 boys. This made it five out of five for Angus. Tommy Taylor was fifth, Jack Murray (minus a shoe) sixth and Callum Hodson seventh. Jack was bronze medallist for the season. Overall Theo Kontos was fifth, Calum Steer sixth and Charlie Stevens tenth. The boys were runaway winners of the U11 League.
The female side of the club also had a great day. Sian Thomas had another great run to be sixth in the senior women's race. She was fifth overall. Jenni Coxon had her best run of the season to be 12th and the scoring was completed by Debbie Wenman in 20th and Judith Orr in 26th. The women were third on the day but just edged into fourth for the season. The vets team of Debbie, Judith, Cath Holloway and Sarah Caulfield were second but the team just held onto the league win, holding off fast-finishing Headington Road Runners. Jenni Coxon was eighth senior woman, Debbie Wenman second Vet 35, Cath Holloway third Vet 35, Judith Orr third Vet 45 and Barbara Ralph second Vet 55.
The Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 girls all won team medals. The Under 15s achieved bronze. At Wing Connie Lewis ran well to be second and was silver medallist for the season. Emma Barraclough (14th), Amy Harris (17th) and Rosalind Firth (19th) scored the remaining team points. Hannah Wardley (22nd), Alice Hall (25th) and Maria Slade (29th) completed a great team performance.
The Under 13 girls also finished with bronze. Hannah Morton had a fine run, despite losing a shoe early on, to be second. Hannah Thear was 19th, Katie Bench 21st and Rachel Padwick 26th to be second on the day and the team just missed silver by 8 points. Hannah Morton finished with individual bronze, Georgie Bingham was ninth.
The Under 11 girls ended up in second with Lizzie Barraclough individual bronze medallist. On the day Lizzie was fifth, Sophie Morton 12th and Mimi Houlihan-Burne 13th. Mimi was ninth and Sophie tenth for the season.
