From Mike Shrive:

As many club members are now aware, I suffered a low level heart attack after last Tuesday's session. I am now back in Chesham after superb treatment by the cardiac unit at High Wycombe hospital.

On reflection, there were warning signs, which I would like to pass onto fellow club members. Since Christmas, I had experienced a tight chest when runnning, which I put down to a good Christmas/New Year, not being as fit as I should be and the cold weather. I had even been to my GP who had started tests to see if there was a problem. In spite of not being in any high risk category, I suffered a heart attack, so I would strongly urge anyone who displays similar problems to urgently seek medical advice.

I would also like to thank all those club members who have sent messages of support, my mobile almost went into meltdown with the texts! In addition, I hope that club members continue to support the Tues and Thurs sessions, which have resulted in some excellent individual and team performances over the winter, as well as providing a good preparation for the spring marathons and summer road races. I hope to return soon, staring in a more passive capacity, but gradually getting back to full fitness. Sian and Judith (supported by Steve Field) have kindly agreed to co-ordinate the Thurs sessions if I am not there.
