The Hughes family had a great medal haul at Sunday's Chiltern Junior Triathlon at Chesham Leisure Centre. With Thomas winning the 15-16 age group, Robert the 13-14 age group, Bill the 11-12 age group, Peter the 9-10 age group and Stephen second in the age 8 category, the boys will need extra space at home for trophy display.

On a very pleasant sunny morning there were a total of 150 children taking part in the annual swim/bike/run event, designed as an introduction to the sport for beginners. Organisation by Chiltern Harriers, Chesham Swimming Club and Amersham Tristars made for another well run event.

The age 8 athletes were off first and in the boys event Ben Kingston took the victory from Stephen Hughes by six seconds with Ayrton Shepherd third. For the girls, Jessica Henning was the winner with Imogen Powell-Tuck second and Charlotte Rynn third.

In the 9-10 category Peter Hughes was a convincing winner from Ethan Kidd second and William Burr third whilst Lizzie Barraclough won the 9-10 girls race with Sandie Pohlman second and Sophie Morton third.

The 11-12 events saw wins for Bill Hughes and Hannah Morton. Second in the boys race was Sam Henning with Edward Killalea third. Emily Heslop was second girl with Mimi Houlihan-Burne third.

Robert Hughes took the 13-14 boys event with Andrew Stenning second and Matthew Burr third and Katie Bench was an easy winner of the 13-14 girls with Sarah Collin second and Heidi Long third.

Thomas Hughes was the winner of the 15-16 boys race.
