The latest Watford Open meeting saw thirteen young Chiltern Harriers tackle the track events - most running 1500m.

In Race 1 there was a great run from first year Under 13 Hannah Thear which saw her smash her PB by nine seconds to record 5.15.97. This confirmed her place in the Buckinghamshire U13 team at the Southern Inter-Counties which takes place on July 25th .

Race 2 saw Under 15 Amy Harris run a strong, controlled race to record a new PB of 5.08.72 with Under 13 Hannah Morton finishing with 5.21.35. Hannah Also goes to the Southern Inter-Counties running 1500m for Hertfordshire.

Race 3 had Under 13 Bill Hughes come out with a win and a PB of 4.58.27, the first time under 5 minutes. Not far behind was fellow Under 13 Will Perkin, knocking ten seconds off his best to log 5.02.07. Also in Race 3 Phoebe Cutter, after a break from track work, ran 5.11.22, a little off her record, set earlier this season.

In Race 4 Under 15 Joe Cochrane, recovering from a lay-off due to a broken arm, ran 4.58.21 and Connie Lewis again ran a solid race in 5.00.76. Joe Aherne, another first year Under 15, ran a PB of 4.51.37 in Race 5.

Race 6 was a highlight of the evening with second year Under 15 Alex Johnson finding several new gears in the last lap to record a big new PB of 4.36.44 and winning the race in the bargain.

The next Chiltern interest was in Race 10 with ever-improving Under 17 Jack Walker taking on some big names and coming away with a solid time of 4.25.9, a little behind his best form of the season. George Gillingwater followed in Race 11, running 4.23.48, another very good run.

Sarah Cross, first-year Under 15, ran the 100m and 200m, equalling her PBs in both races with 13.90 and 30.11.
