Matt Bennett and Sandra Reynolds both won the 27th running of the Penn 7 road race on Sunday in near perfect running conditions. A record field of 320 competitors finished the event.
Sandra completed a hat-trick of wins for Chiltern in the ladies race, following Sian Thomas and Debbie Wenman in 2008 and 2009. Her winning time of 47.25 placed her 18th overall. Kate Loach (52.06) was 3rd lady to finish in 62nd place overall.
Matt Bennett won the race in a very fast 41.58, Paul Horwood and David Breingan were 29th & 34th (49 mins). Other Chiltern runners were Leyton Cheyne (51 mins), Martin Allen (52 mins), Will Hutton (54 mins) and David Clarke (57 mins).
The team prize was for the best 5 finishers (mixed) so we hastily entered a Chiltern team & were successful! My thanks to Sandra for some swift work to get us entered.
In the afternoon over 700 people (of all ages) took part in the 3 mile Fun Run, again a record entry.
