A small but talented group of Chiltern Harriers young athletes took part in the Bracknell Early Season Track and Field Open on Saturday and came away with several medals.
Star of the day was Rebecca Yeabsley who, in large, strong fields won silver in the Under 13 girls 70m hurdles A final and bronzes in the 80m and 150m A finals. Her times, all PBs, were 12.64, 11.46, and 21.31 respectively.
Also running in the Under 13 girls age group were Robyn Lisle who ran 12.57 for 80m, 23.43 for 150m and long jumped 3.59m, and Hannah Thear, making her debut as an Under 13, who ran 23.93 in the 150m and 3.40.74 in the 1000m.
Sandie Pohlman, a first year Under 11, ran strongly to finish fourth in both A finals of the 60m and 150m in times of 9.77 and 24.19.
Will Perkin was a gold medallist in the Under 13 boys 1000m, kicking at the bell to finish in 3.13.42, well ahead of his rivals. Will also finished second in the B final of the 150m with 22.00. Josh Hughes ran 22.55 in his 150m heat and a PB of 1.57.56 in the 600m. He also long jumped 2.94m.
Jack Walker in the Under 17 men's 1500m was up against a very strong field but coped well to finish fourth in 4.38.00. Alex Johnson was impressive in his Under 15 boys 800m heat, and won the bronze medal in a time of 2.16.53. First year Under 15 Jack Treanor ran his first ever 800m in a solid 2.38.47.
Tom Brady featured in both Under 17 men's sprints, clocking 25.64 in the 200m and 12.50 in the 100m. The day ended with Under 17 woman Sophie East achieving a bronze medal in the 100m final with a good early season time of 12.97.
