There were many Chiltern Harriers in evidence at the Berkhamsted Half event on Sunday.
On a glorious early spring morning the 1200 strong Half marathon featured a good run by Jon Taylor, achieving 53rd place in a time of 1.28.05, continuing his steady comeback from injury. In the Five Mile Fun Run a large field of over 600 declared runners saw a strong Chiltern team take the winners prize. The first three Chiltern men home all achieved 5-mile PBs, Julius Fawcett, sixth in 30.45, Steve Perkin , seventh in 31.01, and Michael Turney eighth in 31.14. John Morton completed the scoring four in eleventh with an impressive 31.54, after many months of only sporadic training after illness. Early leader Alex Shelley paid for a strong early pace to fade to 14th in 32.42.
Debbie Wenman was the leading Chiltern lady in second (sixteenth overall) in a time of 33.05. Thirteen- year-old Ellie Jones was 91st in 40.15.
