The second of the four-event series was hosted by Chartridge School, helped by Gayhurst, on Saturday.
Chiltern Harriers runners in the Year 4 boys race included the winner for Chalfont St Peter School, Tommy Taylor. Chesham Prep's Amber Hitchcock was the highest placed Harrier in the girls event in third spot. Lily Pearson of Heatherton, a frequent winner of this race, was fifth despite a badly bruised knee incurred at Round the Town on Thursday.
In Year 5, The Beacon's Angus Denison-Smith won the boys' race with Peter Hughes finishing third for Elangeni. Tom Dore came fourth, the first runner for team winners : Chesham Prep.
The Year 5 girls race showed a host of Harriers runners. The top three of Nadine Eliasson (Heatherton House), Lizzie Barraclough (Elangeni), and Georgie Cooper (Chalfont St Peter) were joined by fourth placed Orla Fawcett (Our Lady's) and Rhiannon Ward (Elangeni) who was fifth - a clean sweep of young Harriers runners.
Will Perkin of Elangeni won the Year 6 race narrowly from The Gateway's Fred Sanders. Other Harriers involved were David Willcox of The Beacon in fourth, Ed Mundy, also of The Beacon, in seventh, and Jonny Stenning of CSP in tenth.
The girls of Harriers in Year 6 finished a stunning 1-2-3-4! Claire Buttivant of CSP won, Rachel Padwick (Elangeni) and Harriet Church (CSP) battled for second and third, Rachel just holding on. In fourth was fast-improving Grace Pearson of Heatherton House.
Overall a strong spread of Harriers athletes on a blustery, muddy yet sunny day led to an enjoyable event. Next race is January 30th at Hawridge, an unfortunate clash with the South of England Championships.
