On a cool, still morning at RAF Halton young Chiltern Harriers ran on an excellent course at the first of the local primary schools races.
In the Year 3 girls race, Ellie Perkin of Elangeni came an encouraging third. In the Year 4 races Tommy Taylor of Chalfont St Peter won from Chesham Prep's Tom Dore and in the girls event, Lily Pearson of Heatherton House was the winner, Amber Hitchcock was third individually and was joined by Alex Bousfield as part of the winning Chesham Prep team.
In Year 5 The Beacon's Angus Denison-Smith confirmed his great form from the first Chiltern League race by winning the boys race with a very mature run. Also running well were Gayhurst's Charlie Spittal, and from Elangeni, Peter Hughes, Alex Ahern, and Charlie Stevens.
The Year 5 girls race saw a superb contest between Elangeni's Rhiannon Ward and Lizzie Barraclough with Lizzie just gaining the advantage in the last few strides. Running very well was Chesham Prep's Mimi Houlihan-Burne who finished in third. Also well up the field were Chalfont St Peter's Georgie Cooper and Elise Eden.
In the Year 6 boys race a very high calibre field ran in a race similar to the Chiltern League from a week ago. Elangeni's Will Perkin was again the winner, with David Willcox of The Beacon repeating his third place. Separating them was newcomer to Chiltern, Fred Sanders from The Gateway. The Beacon's Ed Mundy, and Elangeni's Robert Hall were both in the top ten and Chalfont St Peter's Josh Hughes and Jonny Stenning eleventh and twelfth.
The Year 6 girls race saw another win for Chalfont St Peter's Claire Buttivant, holding off a strong challenge on the final hill from Elangeni's Rachel Padwick. The two schools had a great battle both finishing on 11 points with Chalfont's Harriet Church third and Elangeni's Jessica Empson fifth. Amber Cadman also finished well for Chartridge.
