Watford Open Meeting

12th August 2009

The rain fell again on Chiltern's middle distance athletes and sprinters at Watford - this time over 1500m, 100m and 200m.

A huge turnout at Watford meant that there were sixteen 1500m races.

As usual the slower races went first and in Race 2 there were PBs for Under 13 girl Emma Barraclough in 5.29.86 and Veteran Steve Perkin in 5.02.54. Also running were, after a few weeks off, Under 13 boy Joe Aherne in 5.23.83 and Under 13 girl Hannah Morton in 5.24.85.

In Race 4 Under 13 Joe Cochrane was just outside his best in 4.59.97 whilst in Race 6 Under 15 Alex Johnson ran 4.57.06. The improving Under 15 Ben Whitney ran a PB in Race 7 of 4.41.04 and in Race 9 fellow Under 15 Dan Barraclough continued his recent good form to log a PB of 4.31.15. Final 1500m runner of the night was Senior man Matt Bennett in Race 15 who ran 4.06.60.

The sprint group was represented by Under 13 James White who won both his 100m and 200m races in new PBs of 13.57 and 27.86 respectively and Under 20 Joel Ramsbottom ran excellently to record a PB of 11.00 for the 100m and just outside in the 200m of 22.82.
