Chiltern Harriers Triathlon Group hosted the annual Hawridge International Duathlon on a still, mild evening which provided ideal conditions.
The gruelling run-bike-run event, based at Hawridge cricket ground, involves a 2.5 mile undulating run on road and footpaths, followed by a two-lap eleven mile road cycle, and then a repeat of the 2.5 mile run.
Winner this year was experienced triathlete Jez Cox who set a blistering pace on the bike to set up a considerable margin of victory. His winning time was 58.51. In second place was Mark Boxall who just held on with 60.20 to hold off fast finishing Paul Farmer, third in 60.25.
First woman, seventh overall, was Manuella Capazorio in an excellent time of 66.33. She was followed by Sophie Lovell in 71.35 and Amelia Derbyshire in 75.56.
The race attracted a capacity field of 75 multi eventers. The next Chiltern Triathlon event for seniors is the Aquathlon on Sunday 13th September.
