A great turnout of 15 Chiltern Harriers middle distance runners tried out the newly refurbished Woodside Stadium track at Watford on Wednesday evening.

There were a total of 163 athletes eager to tackle the 800 metres so a total of 16 races took place at that distance.

In Race 1, Under 15 Katie Royals with 2.38.0 and Under 13 Claudia McInerney with 2.40.1 achieved PBs and this trend was continued by Under 15 Amy Harris in the second race with 2.32.5. Race 2 saw Under 13 Bill Hughes make his debut at the event with a solid 2.34.2 and fellow Under 13 Joe Aherne achieve 2.36.5.

In Race 3, Under 13 Connie Lewis ran another good time of 2.33.9 and in Race 4 Under 13s Joe Cochrane in 2.34.6 and Andrew Stenning in 2.35.9 also ran solid times. In Race 5, Under 15 Chloe Allen was boxed early and finished well down on her best in 2.34.3 and Under 13 James McCarthy was also several seconds off his PB with 2.28.0.

Under 15 George Gillingwater set off very positively but faded later to log 2.18.6 in Race 8, and in Race 11 other Under 15s Jack Dutton (2.07.7) and Michael Goddard (2.09.7) were a second or so away from their bests. Under 17 Rob Smith produced a great effort to PB with 2.05.2 in Race 12 and Senior Man Fabian Downs finished things off with 8.57.2 in the fastest 3000 metres of the evening.
