Sunday saw Chiltern Harriers maintain progress in Division 2 South (North West) with a solid second place at Walton on Thames. The team finished on 440 points behind a strong contingent from Camberley & District AC on 492. Woking AC were third on 393, Walton AC fourth on 379.5, Thames Valley Harriers fifth on 312 and Abingdon Amblers sixth on 269.

At the half way stage of the season, Chiltern are just 20 points behind Camberley and well ahead of chasing teams Woking and Thames Valley. Another good turnout saw 22 boys and 21 girls all contribute well.

Under 17 men
Rob Smith took an 'A string' victory in the 1500m and was unlucky to be disqualified from his 800m win after breaking too early. Alex Watson won the 'A string' 1500m steeplechase and there were useful contributions from Zac Underwood, Michael Ferdenzi, Michael Palfreeman, and Olli Church.

Under 15 boys
The very strong under 15 boys had another excellent day. 'A string' winners were Tom Brady (200m) and Jack Dutton (1500m) and there were 'B string wins for Dominic Janson (200m), Ben Whitney (400m), Jack Walker (800m), George Gillingwater (1500m), and John Underwood (80m Hurdles). Michael Goddard ran a grade 2 800m in 2.10.0 to be second, Nick Brabbs and Brandon Janson both performed well in the sprints and Alex Johnson across several events. The 4 x 400m quartet of Michael Goddard, Jack Walker, Alex Johnson and Jack Dutton sprinted to another huge win.

Under 13 boys
A depleted team saw an 'A string' win for Callum Reid-Jones in the 75m hurdles and good efforts from Sam Butcher, Andrew Stenning, and Joe Cochrane across a range of events.

Under 17 women
Sophie East had an excellent 'A string' sprint double win in 100m and 200m. Jess White won the 'B string' 100m and Isabelle Assirati the 'B string' 200m.

Under 15 girls
'A string' wins went to Georgie MacDonald (100m and 200m), Jemma Wenman (75m hurdles), Hannah Barnetson (javelin and shot), and there were 'B string' wins for Jemma Wenman (200m), Amy Harris (75m hurdles and 1500m), and Beth Hitchcock (javelin). Ellie Jones, Beth Cotterell and Ashleigh Race also gained valuable points.

Under 13 girls
Connie Lewis won the 'A string' 800m in a grade 2 time of 2.32.2 and Claudia Jones the 'B string' 1200m. Sarah Cross ran an excellent grade 2 time of 10.6 in the 75 metres and other points in this age group came from Rosalind Firth, Robyn Lisle, Hannah Shepard, Rosie Mellor, Hannah Morton, Evie Gardner and Katrina MacDonald.

Again there were many PBs and Chiltern's strength in depth at present is shown by 14 of the team at Walton not having competed at St Albans two weeks earlier. Well over fifty young athletes have now represented the club in the league this season.

The third round is at Woking on June 21st with a potentially strong Chiltern team hoping to strengthen their league position.
