Some of Chiltern Harriers younger athletes enjoyed the final primary schools cross country event of the spring at RAF Halton in the annual relays event hosted by Vale of Aylesbury AC.
The girls from Elangeni won the girls' race for the third year running with Chalfont St Peter in fifth, from the 18 complete teams.
In the boys race, Chalfont St Peter turned the tables, finishing in silver medal position with Elangeni in bronze. The boys race was won by the team from Turnfurlong School and there were 20 boys teams in action.
The fastest lap prize in the girls' race went to Elengeni's Katie Pawlyn with a time of 3.57 for the 1100m course. Another eye-catching performance came from Rachel Padwick of Elangeni with 4.05, equal third fastest time of the day. In the boys' event Bill Hughes, again of Elangeni, won the fastest lap trophy with 3.28. Will Perkin achieved the third fastest time of the day in 3.31 and the prize for fastest first leg for younger runners went to Chalfont St Peter's Tommy Taylor with 2.31 on the 600m shorter leg.
Other Chiltern runners taking part included Elise Eden (3.00) of CSP and Rhiannon Ward (2.50) of Elangeni on the first leg. On the longer legs Lizzie Barraclough (4.21), Jemima Powell (4.29), Jessica Empson (4.17), Peter Hughes (3.57), Robert Hall (4.06) of Elangeni and Georgie Cooper (4.33), Harriet Church (4.22), Robyn Lisle (4.13), Seb Mills (3.59), Johnny Stenning (3.53) and Robert Small (3.51) of CSP all had good runs.
