There was a large turnout from Chiltern Harriers club runners on Sunday for this perennially popular race. A field of over 2000 runners tackled the undulating course around the rural lanes near Sarratt in very cold temperatures, with a stiff wind present in places and the occasional flurry of snow.
There were several Chiltern prize-winners. Robert Burton was first in the men's Vet 50 category and Barbara Ralph won the women's Vet 55 age group.
The first three Chiltern women home, Sarah Quantrill, Debbie Wenman and Ali Young won the team prize from the 44 complete teams. Sarah was 6th woman, Debbie 15th (and third in the Vet 35 category) and Ali was 20th. Kate Loach was 6th in the Vet 45 age group. The men achieved third place from 101 teams thanks to Eddie O'Gorman, Stuart Ellerby and Richard Quantrill.
Richard and Sarah Quantrill won the prize for the fastest married couple.
In the junior challenge races for children which are part of the event, Will Perkin (in the Under 12 boys) and Rachel Padwick (in the Under 10 girls) won their age group races on the 2.5k course around Cassiobury Park.
