Chiltern Harriers had a number of successes at this old-established meeting, including an individual win for Michael Goddard in the Under 13 Boys race, and a team win for the Under 13 Girls.
The event was held at Braywick Playing Fields, Maidenhead and hosted by Maidenhead AC. The gently undulating and fairly firm ground made for quite fast conditions which provided some good racing.
The first race was the Under 13 Girls and the Chiltern team of Connie Lewis, Ellie Jones and Emma Barraclough held off a strong team from Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow AC to take the gold medal and win the 'Bracknell 50 Shield' by two points. Connie was second and individual silver medal winner, Ellie was third winning the bronze, and Emma finished eighth to complete the gold medal winning team. The Chiltern B team of Amy Harris, Katie Jakeman, and Maria Slade finished in 10th place.
Michael Goddard was a convincing winner of the boys Under 13 race, and with fellow Chiltern runners James McCarthy 12th and Andrew Stenning 13th, made the team that won the bronze medal. Chiltern 'B' - Joe Cochrane (16th), Joe Aherne (23rd) and Toby Jones (31st) finished a creditable 7th.
Ollie Church (9th), George Gillingwater (10th), and Jack Walker (19th) just missed out on the medals in the Under 15 race, finishing in fifth place and Allan Stewart had an excellent run to be second in the men's Under 17 race.
For the seniors Matt Bennett was fifth and John Taylor 39th in the men's race with Rob Engers and Martyn Cartwright also competing in Chiltern colours. The senior women Cath Holloway, Judith Orr, Jane Peel, Brenda King and Fiona Calder fielded a complete team that finished in eighth place from the sixteen competing. Judith Orr was 12th and Cath Holloway 15th towards the top end of the field.
