Wycombe Half Marathon and 10K

Chiltern Harriers had excellent victories in the Wycombe races on Sunday - the men taking the team prize in the Half Marathon and the ladies being victorious in the team event in the inaugural 10K. Several team members also featured in the places for the Bucks County Championships which the Half Marathon incorporated.

There were 914 finishers in the Half. Emphasising his continued great year was Matt Bennett leading home the Chiltern contingent in third place in 1.15.12. Derek Brown was fifth (2nd Vet 40) in 1.16.05, Kingsley Nanton ninth in 1.17.02 and Eddie O'Gorman completed the quartet, finishing in sixteeenth in 1.19.22. Matt also won the Bucks Half Marathon Championship with Derek third, Kingsley fourth and Eddie fifth.

In the ladies Half, Sandra Reynolds was fourth lady and second in the County Championships in 1.31.10, Barbara Ralph was first Vet 50 and fourth in the County Championships in 1.35.55, and Kate Loach was third Vet 40 in 1.39.02. Sandra, Barbara and Kate were joined by Annelie Whitfield as the second placed team in the Half.

In the 10K, however, the ladies went one better and the team of Laura Butt, Sian Thomas, Debbie Wenman, and Isabelle Winter won the prize for this new event. Laura was second lady in 41.44, Sian fourth in 43.10, Debbie fifth in 43.31 (first Vet 40), and Isabelle tenth in 46.20. For the men Roger Ellerby was tenth in 40.21 (second Vet 50) from a field of 301 finishers.
