At a meeting where several of the UK's top distance runners were trying to achieve Olympic qualifying times, four of Chiltern Harriers young middle distance athletes were tackling the 1500metres.
On a cool still evening perfect for middle distance running Under 13 girl Ellie Jones was in the first race and achieved a good time, a few seconds off her PB, of 5.23.47.
In Race 2, first year Under 13 boys James McCarthy and Joe Cochrane confirmed their recent good form, both achieving PBs, Joe in 5.04.01 and James breaking five minutes for the first time in 4.59.43.
The third race of the evening had first year Under 15 George Gillingwater running strongly and was a fraction of a second outside his best, finishing in a time of 4.55.79.
The quartet will be running at the final Young Athletes League meeting on Sunday at Abingdon hoping to conclude the series with more strong times.
Fastest 1500m of the night came from GB athlete Michael East, winning his race in 3.39.04.
