Chiltern Harriers men achieved an excellent victory in the highly rated Thame 10K race on Sunday.
This popular run attracted 853 finishers, with a slightly amended course ensuring a less uphill final kilometre. Dry conditions made for good times on the gently undulating roads and lanes, with only a headwind on the second half of the race along the off-road Phoenix Trail holding runners up.
First home for Chiltern was Matt Bennett, finishing in third place in a very good time of 33.34. The other counters for the team were Eddie O'Gorman, seventh in 34.21, Kingsley Nanton, eighth in the same time, and Elliott Mocharrafie, 34th in a new PB of 37.16.
Also achieving PBs were Michael Turney, 51st (and 12th Vet) in 38.23, and Julius Fawcett, 77th in 39.58. Tony Richardson was fifth Supervet in 39.08 and Tony Molesworth seventh Ultravet in 47.51.
Chiltern's best placed female competitor was Laura Butt who, despite not having her best race, picked up the prize for First Female Veteran, finishing overall 82nd in 40.37.
