Chiltern Harriers triathlon group were hosts at the annual Hawridge Duathlon at Hawridge cricket club and a lovely sunny evening saw an excellent event.
There were 47 finishers in the gruelling event which comprises a 2.5 mile run on undulating paths and road, an 11 mile road cycle on similarly testing terrain, followed by a repeat of the original run.
This year saw a commanding performance from Dan Corner, making up for a puncture last year. His time of 57.08 was a record for this course and was a full three and half minutes ahead of second placed Paul Farmer, who finished in 1.00.40. There was a further three minutes before a group fought it out for third - Steve Webb holding out for third in 1.04.04 with Richard Dobby fourth in 1.04.09 and James Orr fifth (first Veteran) in 1.04.11. First Supervet was Fred Baxter in 1.09.21.
Louise Dobby retained her title from last year with an improved time of 1.10.15, fifty seconds faster than 2007. Amelia Derbyshire was second woman home in 1.19.28 and Beky Hughes third in 1.21.01.
