Coombe Hill Race

Several Chiltern Harriers enjoyed the challenge of the Coombe Hill race near Wendover with Stuart Ellerby again to the fore with second place overall on this occasion with a time of 24.28.

The race involves a steep early climb followed by a downhill finish and the warm weather made for a hot, draining race. Also featuring for Chiltern were Ollie Josephson, ninth in 26.21, Roger Ellerby, 20th in 28.29 and Gary Walford, 22nd in 29.38.

Dorney Dash

The sunny weekend brought out large fields to local running events.

At Dorney Lake Chiltern Harriers' Roger Ellerby posted a new 10K PB of 39.13 in coming 53rd overall and fifth Vet 50 from a total of 880 finishers in the Dorney Dash.

Also running well on a still, sunny morning on the flat but slightly exposed course around the lake was Ali Young, 97th and 9th lady in 41.08.

St Albans Half Marathon

On Sunday a searingly hot morning provided tough conditions for those tackling the St Albans Half Marathon course.

First home for Chiltern was Richard Quantrill in 1.27.25 and 36th place (25th senior man) closely followed by Michael Turney in 1.27.49 in 41st (13th Vet 40). Doug King was 181st and 14th Vet 50 in 1.37.39 and Jonathan Coutts was 721st and 401st Vet 40 in 1.54.06. Rik Edwards was 1083rd and 73rd Vet 50 in 2.01.43.

Sandra Reynolds was 110th and 3rd Vet 35 in 1.33.47, Sarah Quantrill was 138th and 8th Senior woman in 1.35.09, Kate Loach was 323nd and 8th Vet 45 in 1.42.47
