Icknield Way Races and Marlow 5

10th and 11th May 2008

Whilst Chiltern Harriers' younger contingent were excelling on the track at the County Championships, the club's older road racers and cross country runners were also enjoying the weekend sunshine.

At the Icknield Way 10k and Half Marathon event on Saturday, Chiltern's ladies team of Sarah Reynolds, Sarah Quantrill and Kate Loach came home with the team prize in the Half Marathon race. Richard Quantrill and Michael Turney also had good runs on this hilly off-road course and Debbie Wenman continued her comeback from injury in the 10K.

On Sunday at Marlow, Chiltern Harriers' men retained their team victory from last year. This very popular flat five mile race organised by Handy Cross Runners attracted over 1600 competitors and Chiltern's winning trio of Eddie O'Gorman (17th in 28.22), Justin Fowler (18th in 28.29), and Mark Fallowfield-Smith (32nd in 29.59) were first of 41 complete teams. Tony Richardson was third in the Vet 50 men's race in 31.09. Individual winner of the race was Chiltern Sparrows' Owain Jones in 25.56.

For the ladies Laura Butt had a good run in 12th in 32.32 and Judith Orr was fifth Vet 40 in 33.56.
