Maidenhead Easter 10 Mile Road Race

21st March 2008

Chiltern Harriers had a successful trip on Good Friday to Maidenhead with the men's team winning first prize and the ladies finishing second.

On a cool, blustery morning, 1139 runners finished the flat and fast course with 40 male teams and 22 female teams competing. The three Chiltern counters in the victorious men's team were Derek Brown, 8th in 56.06, Kingsley Nanton, 15th in 57.19, and Eddie O'Gorman, 25th in 58.01. This points total of 48 was enough to hold off local rivals and last year's winners Vale of Aylesbury AC with 62.

Also putting in good runs for Chiltern in the men's race were Michael Turney, 91st in 64.07, Tony Richardson, 92nd in 64.13, Roger Ellerby, 99th in 64.41.

In the ladies race, Sandra Reynolds was first Chiltern runner home, 126th overall and 8th lady in 66.15. Joining her in the Chiltern team were Laura Butt, 161st and 12th lady in 68.08, and Kate Loach, 305th and 40th lady in 74.04. These three took second place just 13 points behind winning team West 4 Harriers.
