Finchley 20M

9th March 2008

Chiltern Harriers preparing for next months Flora London Marathon made the trip to Ruislip in Middlesex to run the Finchley 20 mile race, organised by Hillingdon AC.

Kate Loach won the Vet 45 category in 2.35.15, Sandra Reynolds was third Vet 35 in 2.18.36, the women's team was second and there were numerous other good performances.

The course is four times round a five mile loop near Ruislip and Ickenham and provides a good pre-marathon test of fitness. Conditions were dry but blustery.

From a field of 478, highest placed Harrier was Richard Quantrill, 28th in 2.08.55. Michael Turney also showed he is in good shape, 53rd in 2.15.59. Sandra was next in 73rd place overall (5th lady) with Sarah Quantrill 98th (10th lady) in 2.23.38. In 162nd overall (26th lady) was Kate Loach and in 333rd was London Marathon ever-present David Walker (4th Vet 60) in 2.57.05.

The ladies team of Sandra, Sarah and Kate ran excellently to take second place behind a strong Serpentine RC team from 14 complete teams.
