Perfect conditions and a flat course provided the incentive for Michael Turney and Sandra Reynolds to achieve new personal best times at Wokingham Half Marathon on Sunday.
A still, bright, mild morning allowed the high quality field to post great times at this traditionally fast race. The top 78 runners were below 1 hour 20 and Michael was not far behind with a new best of 1 hour 23 minutes 24 seconds. Along the way he also noted best times at the 10k and 10 mile points. He finished in 118th place overall from the 2000 finishers and 17th Vet 40. Race winner was Toby Lambert from Winchester and District in a searing 1.05.41
Sandra also broke her record with a time of 1.25.41. She finished in 164th place overall, 21st lady and a great 3rd Vet 35. Leading lady was Bedford and County's Liz Yelling in 1.11.09.
Other Chiltern Harriers completing the race were Wim Nuyts in 1.39.14 and Steve Chambers in 2.23.45.
