Laura Butt took the honours at the Wendover Woods multi-terrain race, coming home as first female in 35.44, 27th overall from a field of 295 finishers. She had a hard battle with Kirsty Hewitson of Headington Road Runners but won out in the last half mile on the road.
On a very challenging hilly course the muddy off-road sections were exceptionally tricky due to the recent rain. There were several other good performances on the day. Sarah Quantrill was third female home in 36.30, 32nd place overall, and in the men's race, Eddie O'Gorman was fifth in 30.47, Matt Bennett sixth in 31.42, Richard Quantrill 11th in 32.25, and Grant Whitaker 29th in 35.54.
Meanwhile in St Albans, Sandra Reynolds completed the flat 10 mile Fred Hughes road race, hosted by St Albans Striders, as third Vet 35, 102nd overall from a field of 911, in an impressive 1.06.57.
