January's pub run will be a regal one from "The Royal Standard of England" at Forty Green!
The pub is reputed to be the oldest in England and it's name was given by Charles II after an overnight stay! Those of you who query it's age as Charles was there in 1664 I understand it was around in Henry II's time (for the history fans he was the one who married Eleanor of Aquitaine).
Usual distances of 11.25 & 9.25 miles respectively.
The pub's location is SU 921919 and it's post code (for Sat Nav enthusiasts) is HP9 1XT.
Easiest route is A355 Amersham - Beaconsfield road then right into Ledborough Lane then right into B474 then left at 'Red Lion' and see SP for Forty Green. Follow the lane and pub will be signposted. Let's try for the usual 10 am start as the pub gets very busy on Sundays - particularly this time of year!
Finally, I shall be out of commission for the next few months but will keep the routes coming.
Regards,
Trevor
PS: This event is the 'official' January run not forgetting New Years Day jaunt from 'The Plough' at Hyde Heath. As a special dispensation start time for that event will be 10.30 am!
