With the Windsor Half cancelled due to foot and mouth, some Chiltern Harriers decided to make the trip south to participate in these trail races, the full marathon linking the cities of Salisbury and Winchester.
The only harrier to brave the longer version was Richard Abraham, coming home as 25th Vet 50 in a time of 4:21:35, a good time given the challenging hills and off-road terrain, reflected in the winning time of 2:50:31 and only three athletes breaking 3 hours.
In the similarly hard Half, Michael Turney, Adrian Dale and Kate Loach all did well. From 382 male finishers, Michael was first home in 28th overall and 5th Vet 40 in 1:37:44; Adrian was 49th overall and 6th Vet 45 in 1:43:14; and Kate was 17th lady of 227 overall and was just pipped to the Vet 45 winners prize by 4 seconds in 1:51:43.
