Several Chiltern Harriers Triathletes tackled the very challenging Vitruvian Triathlon on Sunday. This is also the National Middle Distance Championships for triathlon and a high quality field contested the event in warm sunshine with 689 people completing the challenge.
A 1900 metre swim in Rutland Water commencing at dawn is followed by an 84km bike ride involving 1000 metres of climb, and the event ends with a 21km run.
Five Chiltern men and two women started this massive test and Neil Edwards was Chiltern's first man home in 4 hours, 52 minutes, 35 seconds (a swim of 36:18, bike of 2:34:02, and run of 1:38:47) and 153rd place overall - 9th in the M45-49 age group.
