Chiltern Harriers had a double victory on Sunday in the Bearbrook 10K road race, with wins for both men's and ladies' teams.
Organised by Bearbrook Joggers the event is a gently undulating course, starting at Aylesbury rugby club at Weston Turville and following a rectangular route through Wendover and RAF Halton. There were 421 finishers.
The weather was mild with a gentle breeze which allowed fast times from the winners, Steve Rees-Jones of Basingstoke and Mid-Hants in 32:28 and Carolyn Boosey of Vale of Aylesbury AC in 37:22.
The Chiltern men had a fairly narrow victory over rivals Vale of Aylesbury. First home for the team was Kingsley Nanton, 7th in 34:57, followed by Derek Brown, 8th in 35:07, Robert Burton, 24th in 37:09 and Michael Turney, 53rd in 40:40. The winning score of 92 was just ahead of Aylesbury's scorers' total of 109.
In the ladies race, Debbie Wenman led the Chiltern team home, coming 4th in a new personal best of 40.08 and winning the Vet 35 prize. Completing the Chiltern scorers were Annelie Whitfield, 27th in 47:41, Heidi Folkard, 36th in 48:51 and Brenda King, 72nd in 56:24.
