Chiltern Harriers ladies had a successful morning at the Princes Risborough Festival 10K on Sunday, winning the team prize and also obtaining two veteran category victories.
A total of 220 men and 152 women completed the scenic rural course around the lanes of Princes Risborough, competitors enjoying unfamiliar dry, warm conditions for the undulating course, after several weekends of rain.
The Chiltern ladies team of Laura Butt, 4th in 40.33, Debbie Wenman, 6th in 41.00, and Barbara Ralph, 11th in 42.53 had a comfortable margin of victory from Handy Cross Runners in 2nd and Vale of Aylesbury AC 3rd. Debbie claimed first place in the Veteran 35 age group and Barbara was first lady in the Veteran 45 category.
The men's team had to settle for third place, despite all four counters achieving sub 40 minute times - Derek Brown was 3rd in 35.00, Kingsley Nanton 6th in 36.01, Michael Turney 27th in 39.49, and Adrian Dale 28th in 39.56. Team victors were host club, Vale of Aylesbury AC, with Hillingdon AC 2nd.
