Chiltern Harriers young athletes took part in the first of this "summer's" 4 league meetings on Sunday 6 May with a team of 30 enjoying good weather conditions to produce some very good individual and relay team performances. A busy timetable commencing at 11.30am and finishing around 5.15 pm and with 7 teams taking part there was plenty of athletics entertainment for the supporters (mostly parents).
With the relay race scores plus bonus points for supplying a complete team of officials still to be added to the final scores positions were as follows: 1) St. Mary's Richmond 567.5 pts 2) Oxford City 484 pts 3) Kingston & Poly 338 pts 4) Chiltern Harriers 331 pts 5) Watford Harriers 326.5 pts 6) Newbury 287 pts 7) Abingdon 243 pts.
Although the team was smaller in number by comparison with other clubs competing the Harriers youngsters notched up 19 individual wins in 'A' and 'B' string races, plus lots of 2nd and 3rd places. There was also 2 relay wins for the U13 boys' 4x100m-team and U15 boys' 4x400m-team and a good number of personal bests. The Boys' team was the 2nd highest scoring team behind winners St. Mary's Richmond.

The U13 boy's 4x100m-relay team (Cameron Holloway, John Underwood, Spencer Evans-Walker and Nick Brabbs) won in a tight finish with Nick Brabbs running a very good anchor leg.
The U15 boy's 4x400m-relay team (Daniel Loach, Zac Underwood, Sonny Harvey and Ross Wilson) won their race with Ross Wilson cruising comfortably to victory on the anchor leg.
First year U13 Michael Goddard won the male track 'Athlete of the Match' with AAA's Grade 2 performance clocking 5mins.00.1secs to win the 1500m by almost 100m. Tom Evans just missed out on the award with his Grade 2 winning time of 23.5secs in the U17 200m.
