Chiltern Harriers young athletes took part in the first of this "summer's" 4 league meetings on Sunday 21 May with a team of 21 defying awful weather conditions to produce some very good individual and relay team performances. A busy timetable commencing at 11.30am and finishing around 5.15 pm and with 6 teams taking part there was plenty of athletics entertainment for the travelling supporters (mostly parents) who braved the bad weather.
Although the team was small in number by comparison with other clubs competing the Harriers youngsters notched up 13 individual wins in 'A' and 'B' string races, plus lots of 2nd and 3rd places. There was also 2 relay wins for the U15 boys and a good number of personal bests.
For the boys the winners included:
| Jack Dutton (U13) | A string 800m |
| Howard Mead (U13) | B string 1500m |
| Michael Palfreeman (U13) | B string 100m |
| Alex Shelley (U15) | A string 1500m, A string High Jump |

| Sam Rogers (U15) | B string 400m |
| Allan Stewart (U15) | B string 800m |
| Alex Higgins (U17) | B string 800m |
The U15 boy's 4x100m relay team (Faris Churcher, Allan Stewart, Sam Rogers and Tom Evans) were too strong for the opposition with Tom Evans running a very good anchor leg after recording a personal best 12.3secs in the individual 100m.
The U15 boy's 4x400m relay team (Nick Lingley, Alex Shelley, Alex Watson and Allan Stewart) won their race by nearly 100 metres.
